Our previous thug inmate, Martez Antonio Rollerson, reveals how the phone scheme works.

In this post, dated April 24, 2012, gives out his phone number and asks for a Verizon phone card. He is using a phone with a Georgia area code. One of his buddies promises to hook him up by adding minutes to his phone. He appears to have done this withing eighteen minutes of getting Rollerson's phone number.
